Completing the frame

All the single parts, the bottom (with the base and motherboard), the two side panels and the two parts for the top of the case ( the PSU and reservoirs) are connected to each other by threaded rods (during the build process we used Perspex rods instead), which would allow us to open the case by pulling out just three of the rods.

By removing all the rods except the last rod, the assembled sections can be rotated, and by removing the last rod, it's also possible to open the case completely.

At this point, we had a frame for the hardware, but no drive cage, and no front or rear section, so we had to change this. The front and rear of the case were cut out of radiant Perspex and, last but not least, the parts that we needed to build the drive cage were also made.

The drive cage would also act as light source, so we decided to construct it from three layers of Perspex. These consisted of two black layers on the outside and a light, tinted, clear blue layer inside. Inside the middle layer, we placed a few LEDs, which illuminate the inside of the case and the reservoir as well.
